Review

I thought that I had over-cooked the mini-ravioli during my last review, and not without reason. However, I had turned on the wrong hob – easy to do. There is now a real risk that, having been soaked, the ravioli with open up like sliced carrots in ice-water and release their meagre packages of minced pork and beef into the salted water with a dash of olive oil. I spent a long time in the delicatessen asking why they didn’t have Leffe coffee, if they were so original Italian. They were perplexed, but sold me some very good Lavazza or something compressed in a vacuum pack, then when I got home I realised it was Illy coffee that I had had previously, and Leffe is the very strong expensive Belgian beer. The packs of espresso from Sainsbury’s have a hard, chemical smell, like coal (espresso, not decaf), this has a pleasant organic smell, by which I mean earthy. The reason I’m saying this is that I will shortly make a coffee. There has been a spate of articles recently from people explaining the superiority of their method of making home-made coffee. The only possible response to that is a glass in the face. OK, the coffee’s on, but the mini-ravioli are a bit too meaty. My point is that Jam, Trigger Happy TV and even some other stuff are better art these days than most modern art, even if Chris Morris’ every achievement is a picture of his contempt for his audience and himself. www.google.com/search?q=Chris+Morris+Observer+suicide&lc=www&btnG=Google+Search Credits where credits due: www.jamcredits.com
