Coming as I do from the village of Todmorden a mere five miles down the road from Hebden Bridge (the two towns separated by a sewage treatment plant) I can confirm "anon's" take on country life. This is a view commonly held in Todmorden hence the bi-annual battles (both home and away) between the secondary school pupils of said towns on the local park each summer. The rumours spreading like wildfire around the fair which accompanied the Todmorden carnival each year that a "Hebden kid" was in town. Seems like the adults of Hebden Bridge are equally loathsome - evolving from violence-loving teens to lazy crusty adults. An example if ever there was one that the drugs definitely don't work. Interesting fact: Todmorden and Hebden Bridge have some of the highest rates of UFO spottings in Britain - especially around the mushroom season.
