That a staggeringly mediocre artist such as P.P has a painting in the Whitney Museum should not surprise anybody familiar with the art world misperception that those who hang around enough in fancy galleries must be fancy artists.
His reactionary paintings of naked figures and metal fans are badly painted. The paint is stiffly applied, with shadows looking a bit muddy and everything rendered identically: flesh, metal, or carpet. The drawing is unrealistic. And why paint any more nudes? The only people these pictures will please are the ignorant and the faux-traditionalists who will think they can see some skill in them.
