Bande a Part ( 1964 France) by Jean-Luc Godard at NFT London England
Halliwell’s film guide offers an accurate plot summary: Aimless young people plan a robbery which ends in murder. Makes Pulp Fiction seem crass and synthetic, because all of Tarantino’s touches are copied from this and the rest, dumbed down and rereleased for the ignorant. Godard is like Picasso, yes he is good, but too overbearing, like a clever friend who bores and tires you quickly, and inappropriate, slightly embarrassing for our modest age. I was charmed and bored half way through, though at least it didn’t send me to sleep.
