London's Brilliant/London's Boring

Review

Why is London such hard work? It's not the BIGGEST city in the world, nor the most expensive (no really, it's not), not even the most friendly although it sometimes seems that way. It does have the burden of Victorian licensing laws, and a confusing transport system that seems to shut down entirely after midnight. But there's one crucial element lacking - information. Nightbuses are almost always available from reasonably convenient locations, London IS navigable, and there are places to go. Hidden away, in backstreets backwaters and behind closed doors, are places you can actually party, have a good time and stand a chance of talking to someone new and interesting. I should know, because I've seen them (but not very often). I suppose it makes sense that the BEST city in the world should also be the WORST. But why don't the intelligent, knowledgeable worldwidereview readers get together and share information? Where are the hot spots, the cool dives and the best hangouts? Review this review, and lets tell each other about the lesser-known places that really ARE fun, and we might all learn something!

(New York here I come.)
