Review

I'm starting to wonder who has the hazier and more self-aggrandising memories of history, the Japanese or the Americans. While we all know that the Japanese refuse to face up to their wartime atrocities it seems the Americans are just as self-delusional about the course of WW2. The recent film U571 in which the Yanks are seen rescuing an Enigma machine (Where do you put the coffee in this thing Elmer?), is another example of the mistaken belief of the USA that they have been responsible for all the great events of the 20th century. In 40 or 50 years time they'll make films explaining that they warned the rest of the world about global warming and we just wouldn't listen.
