Tayyabs Indian Restaurant, Fieldgate Street London website www.tayyabs.co.uk

Their website seems a bit minimal but their food is good and spicy. Grilled meats to start with sizzle and taste fresh and full of herbs and spices. You can go and see your food before hand luxuriating in trays waiting for its grilling. The lambs chops are a rarity in Indians and are highly recommended. Fish tikka special too.

They bring you jugs of water without asking which is very nice. No alcohol is served righteously, but bring your own if you like. A few complain the food is too spicy here but I say everyone should let their noses run and cry chilli tears sometimes.

Now the main events: the quail will usually be unavailable, the lamb curry is meaty with orange oily sauce and excellent, okra and baby eggplant tasty for vegetarians, minced lamb curry also great, breads and rice better than average, it is all fresh and not like the usual boring Brick Lane Indian saucy stuff. It is good and the place is nice and cheap. I have never had the prawn dishes.
