What is the best Indian restaurant in London?

Alas, I can provide few pointers, as I have found the experience extremely disappointing. I am happy to recommend Tayyabs, as reviewed in these pages (see the index). Posh/publicised ones that should be worth a try: Chutney Mary, 535 Kings Road; Mem Seheb on Thames, 65 Amsterdam Rd E14; Chor Bizarre, 16 Albermarle St Mayfair; Veeraswamy, Victory Housse 99 Regent St; Mirch Masala 1416 London Road Norbury; Shamyana 437-439 Streatham High Road and 3 Monkeys, Herne Hill. Zgata recommends: Ama, the Indian Room, 483 King’s Road (Sloane Sq. Tube) and Zaika, 257-259 Fulham Road (South Ken tube) – both quite pricey, and the budget Kastoori, 188 Upper Tooting Road. But would you trust the kind of people who would contribute to Zagat guides? Better stick to worldwidereview.
