landscape painting is stuck in the mud. A snapshot taken with a disposable camera says more about what we see of trees and lakes and plains than these pictures. Language is the essence of the idea, but the expression of ideas is not always a language, we see this in photographs but paintings are misunderstood because we interpret them.
