Situated on Rochdale Road, in Blackley, an area of North Manchester that is held in higher regard than neighbouring Mostyn, but still not high. Definitely a real place though. The club is a squat, square building that looks like it should be the temporary home of the infants, a soup kitchen or a smalltown lapdacing club. A few degrees clockwise from Rochdale Road is Oldham Road. If Bernard Manning's Comedy Club was on Oldham Road, it would be an incitement to riot. As it is, it's a kind of Ronnie Scott's for working class Manchester - a faintly creepy relic of a bygone culture.
