Review

look carefully at use of the colour, the figures clothed in bright blue and red, repeated over and over again, dazzling the eye,it is the paint intensity which was lost in the 19th century, between manet and cezanne was forgotten the alchemy of painting. These small shows are good in this overendowed institution because they allow one focus one's attention more acutely on a few paintings, even if they may not be of the highest quality. The method of paintig produced a surface of such smooth force as to provoke ecstasy. The elaborate frames and racy subjects mere gimmicks seeking attention. bravo. Baroque and roll.
