sublime is just landscape painting carefully done with the stiffness of method that occurs in distant colonies. Tedious tate britain, why not tate american sponsored by burger king, if galleries want to show large numbers of mediocre paintings all they need do is restrict themselves to British and American figurative painting, or all british painting. Rainbows, and icebergs, and stormy seas, and simple coastlines are boring because they refer us to paintings effects not its mysteries.
