Review

The best show they have had in this Tate which I hate, Matisse is a much better more profound painter than Picasso who was very very good, especially as he got old and learnt from Matisse. The first rooms make you think that you will be overwhelmed by masterpieces, but as usual with tate modern shows they run out quickly, not of the door. There is more than enough though, go see it and look at something really good for once, that questions how slow our aesthetic progress has been in the last thirty years. We need a comprehensive Matisse Picasso show, the two have always gone well together, Picasso makes clear Matisse.
