By Romanian Jew, I meant to portray ethnicity as an almost abstract quality which cannot be shaken off and therefore creates meanings. Or what began as real qualities ( i.e Judiasm as a religion) has become a an unexamined set of associations which are misleading. Like all tags they impress more than they speak the truth.
