To put it simply is London's most beautiful zone. The workers at 6pm like ghosts, crossing bridges, boarding trains, filling bars, packs of them in their dark uniforms. If you stop one of them for directions they are friendly in an unearthly unlondon way. It uses all the cliches: buildings disappearing into the foggy heavens, water reflecting darkly, lights marking structure, great monuments being built everyday. A modern imperial Rome.
