New Contemporaries 2002 Barbican Curve Gallery London UK

The mishsmash of the talented from Britain's art schools. I never got in to this competition, so unless I take another MA at my advanced age and rectify history and my cv, I will forever bitterly wander through these shows. It is the first blow that destroys humanity. After that it is just sweet pleasure or pain. Quite a nice NC, polished paintings in the style of last year, videos with good production values, in your face sculptures. Nothing there to say young Picasso but enough to grow into the next Catherine Yass or Keith Tyson. Group art imposes a terrible homogoneity of indifference which it is hard to imagine being dispelled. By what? Go see.
