Review

This is definitely the best cafe in Leytonstone, nay London, nay The World. It has a capacity to impove, and I have no idea where we , me and the cafe, will end up. Most establishments get worse, the quality falls or the menu palls. Only the special ones surprise you like this Portuguese eatery. For months I had been stuck ordering piripiri chicken or a pork steak with french fries and a fried egg. However last week I spotted another diner eating something good and requested it for my greedy self. It was a delicious scalloped loin of pork served with potatoes and rice. This week the proprietor, unbidden, announced he had a special dish for me, I readily agreed to his suggestion, especially because he told me it was the last portion going. So, on the Cann Hall Road, towards the east end of the earth, as the motor cars tootled past, I ate pressed duck ( similar to the one served with the pork) in a wine sauce with three different types of vegetable and roast potatoes. For five pounds. The Cascais joins the pantheon of the greats.
