Review

Arvo parts music is quite obvious for an avant garde composer, you can imagine it playing over an overwrought film. But the pianist was good. Watching an orchestra is like seeing a stripper. The effort that is writ on their faces rather detracts from the beauty of what they make. Their clumpy shoes, and badly cut black clothes make you imagine that a musicians life might be rather miserable in general, too much practice and not enough recognition and small apartments. The Artaud by peter sellars staged as a US military press briefing was quite enterataining by the standards of performance art, but many middle classites walked out, obviously more accustomed to The Kevin Spacey school of theatre. The whole extravaganza took place in Kappoors giant anus, which has been compared to Guernica.
