Review

The opening seemed a bit low key ,are we to presume the bubble has burst, or perhaps the cogniscenti were there some other time. It wasn't what I was looking for to expend my unutilised energies. Billingham has made good art, he was probably the most profound of the YBAs, but this landscape show is not outstanding. Some typical contemporary art photos, some visually interesting some not, are exhibited in the two floors of this rather drab west end flagship. Why is it not more glamorous. The Galleries must raise their game to stimulate our palates. Billinghams photos could be by anyone, perhaps the collectors buy them, I suppose at least he's trying to do new things within his oeuvre.
