Review

What do people think about the forthcoming Oscars? I know life goes on and all that, but the frivolity, champagne and media frenzy that usually accompanies the Oscars seems woefully inappropriate as we are paused on the verge of war with a starving and desperate country (Iraq). Guilty or not shouldn't we scrap it this year?

The Oscars generate a world wide audience, including countries that might be less than sympathetic to the U.S position. Maybe having the Oscars sends out a signal of American self confidence. The flip side of that message is one of increasing obesity, yearning and greed.

Personally I think the money that gets spent on such things is money poorly spent. If the western world wants to prove or show a position of moral authority perhaps it should refrain from the glitz and the glamour this time.

The rights and wrongs of the war (if you remain objective) aren't easy to fathom. How the media use and abuse the war is.

Let's start a revolution and boycott around my place.
