Review

The theme of the evening was to do something in front of audience that you have never done before. As I have danced and acted in front of an audience and I stay true to my principles, I decided to read extracts from diary. The crowd was imminent and expectant; my posture was crooked and my diction slavish. But I articulated various phrases from my daily entries. The funny, facetious comments worked best with the public. Matter-of-fact statements avoided. Sentimental things don't do so well because they are surprisingly factual when taken out of context. That is why I would recommend budding writers to concentrate on pithy statements, witticisms, funny anecdotes, because this takes the spectator out of the ordinary as well as develpoing a theme etc. As emotional experiences go, this was unbeatable, you know how exciting something is going to be, if you harbour any desires of fleeing in the face of the enemy. But the enemy takes no pressure.
