Review

Only money can insulate you from dreadful humanity and allow you to pursue your erudite fantasies. A striking book for it details preoccupations, the protagonist,s favorite flowers, books, paintings etc. rather than actions. This is the liberation of the collector rather than Proust,s wallowing in memories and emotions, things can mostly keep you busy :sending you out on lonely adventures. A terrible book because it combines religion with the torture of self conscious boredom, there is no redemption anywhere, a beautiful novel because it says much of our modern ability to live through tokens and symbols of places and life rather than by the vulgar immersion in reality, which stinks, if you can open a drawer to journey why waste time by travelling. Also good is the food neurosis, so now too, where our eventually feed himself by enema of super condesnsed meat juices. The future decayed.
