Review

Reminded me of an ok short story, nothing great but quite satisfying. plot: A know-it-all (sad case) Uncle teaches his 16 year old nephew about women. The dialogue is not clever enough for you to ever be convinced by Uncle Rodger, from the start he is figure of pathos, more a loser than anything dangerous or brilliant. In a way this undermines the drama because the resolution can only be that naivety, personified by the sensitive nephew, teaching Uncle Cynicism, about the true values of life. For god sake the Uncle stops his nephew from fucking a prostitute, because such an outcome would be too much for moral America to stomach. For all its lack of complexity, the pace and jerky direction and occasional humour still make it worth watching.
