Review

www.wilkinsongallery.com The malaise has turned to mayonnaise. This light show is not bad. The slide sequence of monochromes is elegant and witty. The dirty trolleys with their coloured lights hiding underneath have a certain poetry of juxtaposition. The christmas tree lights have their obvious reference, which works well with the enigma of the other works. All together Batchelor's art escapes the humdrum and the text, and is liberated in its playfulness: a joy of things. It's meaning is merely, and crucially, the beauty of how the world looks and could look, and the artist's eye brings our attention to what we have missed before.
