I hate this horrible beautiful aestheticizing of remembrance. Blood red poppies, gray and black overcoats, bugle notes sounding the last post on a cold misty autumn day.
It is the same sicknesss as war, that fun time when people we hate are necessarily killed by our clever weapons, and savage butchers slay our brave boys. The spectacle of pious politicians, soldiers, and royalty glum faced laying flowery wreaths, is part of the whole sordid pornography of war ( that is the murder of people). Those poppies and ceremonies are just as evil, for they allow us to sleep easy guiltless, and forget the nightmares unleashed on our behalf.
