www.justincoombes.com Coombes shows some photos in this gallery in Victoria, a hub of desperate tourists and vicious commuters, and it seems an odd place to see contemporary art. The photos employ some kind of long exposure or other technique which creates multiple ghostly images which are very believable and don't make you think about photoshop. I found myself unable to engage with their content, perhaps it was the fact of their framing, mounting, and glazing, but a glassy barrier, mental or physical, prevented me form entering their magic worlds.
I imagine them bigger, unframed, and therefore encompassing and then I will be able to look. Unreal handmade photography is perhaps not cool now, and thus should be an oasis from all the gurskys, shuttes, thomases, and combinations there of that litter the global gallery..
