the old bird died for lack of rich people and business expense accounts. The gilded 100 who went supersonic each time, blasted to the edge of space, unknowable billions worth of anglo-french money and genius propelling them, and 400 horses. Whilst BA was fighting Virgin, the airline world was changing to low cost and high anxiety, a new dirty nuclear age, history ended and then began again as it always does, and great public works, mighty dreams of the future, they now seem passed, they were just the machinations of the pompous and powerful few anyway, but even they, or some different form of them, shall come again. And we shall be in New York from London in two hours to drink a coffee at the same Starbucks, and eat a sub at the same Subway.
