Review

Faulty Towers the classic comedy from the 1970's is the best British sitcom there is. Why? John Cleese is the master of pranks, humour and wit. When British seaside resorts were the in-thing in the 50's, 60's and 70's, Guest Houses all across Britain had their Basil Faulty. The truely repressed British (Basil) character controlled by his wife(Sybil)in a house where a marriage does no longer exist only for business purposes. It wouldn't have surprised me if Basil actually murdered Sybil after the twelve episodes ended. We laugh at Cleese's Basil because we see are own faults in ourselves but do not express these inner mental feelings for the fear what others will think. Basil is truely demented in his vision, trapped, tense, fed up of his surroundings, Basil's sexual need to go fourth is hindered at every corner even though his subconious is spilling out - Sybil is always there with the ball and chain.

This would have been my choice.
