In our numbed age we need to see more to get our rocks off. From CSI,to ER to nip/tuck, to the sopranos.. Only graphic scenes of operations, murder, beatings, and docomposition still will thrill.

These scenes are done with art, we see more than we could ever view as a spectator at the actual scene. Real life is gone in a flash, we are left confused, and with the pulse quickened, when we witness some extraordinary event. On TV we watch the bullet enter the head, the splatter hit the bystander, computer magic even show us its passage through the brain. And all this might even happen in slo-mo or be repeated from several angles, for our joy.

This is the new super graphicism of television. We see more than gore, we are gods of the disgusting revealed for entertainment.
