Review

After the great messy Paul Mccarthy, we get this politish show of abstract paintings by Heilmann. They are ok, some of the shiny surfaces are pleasing, a little flash of visual intelligence here and there. Mostly I looked at the canvases' edges where the pattern from the front continues round the corner, implying of course the objecthood of the painting, as well as perhaps a rather fastidious personality.

Marte Marce, the young Barcelona painter, seems to me related to Heilmann.

Doesn't blow your socks off but must be selling well to be shown in this blue chip flag ship of the art empire in the heart of piccadilly sauce.
