I wanted to like this film - As an example of what is possible when a filmmaker has the opportunity of using stars and it being as out-there as his imagination will allow. But at the end of the day it was not very good. GOOD POINTS - there is a palpable sense of atmosphere achieved. YOu know those sort of moments in films where someone is doing something very normal- but you sense the uncanny and get a bit of shiver (lots in Lynch)- usually through the use of subtle sound sound design. Anyway, lots of those moments - they do add up to something. -it is a masterfully made film. It has ambition - a noble romantic idea that 'it' is all about love. The theme is shown in a variety of potentially exciting ways -eg randomly people dieing in the street because they miss people. BUT BAD POINTS The film does not deliver - ok so it is all about love - but we do not really see this in terems of the characters stories, we are just told it, that it is the theme.
