Review

Nigel Cooke's overworked surfaces are the equivalent of a meretricious over researched first novel about a subject of very little human relevance. They are meant to make you go wow, how did he do that, what an achievement combining a sort of abstract landscape with the insane detail of a Richard Dadd. Instead they make you think, what ugly paintings, wish he'd try and paint beauty.
