100 artists have painted portraits of their mothers. Some of the artists are famous like Grayson Perry, Vic Reeves, or Chantal Joffe. Others are not so I won't bother to tell you their names.

I'd like to think about the show as art rather than as a novelty show for charity. It's not that usual to see a hundred portraits by contemporary artists. They are very varied, many are bad in the way only non-abstract figurative painting can be, some are funny, and most don't tell you much about the relationship between mother and child.

Can a picture survive being hung with a hundred others? Styles hold their own better. You can see the realistic ones, or Sophie Von Hellerman's loose one, or the crusty ones, more than you can filter out the good ideas.

Another look might be in order.
