Review

This is one of the few watchable films I have seen recently. It was a very hard kind of inhuman plastic artifical movie, which is perhaps how movies should be now. Unlike most of these tv spin-offs (Charlies Angels et al) you could not see the joins, ie it wasn't just a series of set pieces/ action sequences with the odd joke thrown it. The story was simple and direct, and the idea of Starsky and Hutch getting to like each other, although without the slightest psychological depth, was appealing. A movie about a tv show from the 70s, a beautiful idea of the 70s which never can or did exist,an idea of being a kid watching tv in the 70s in America, a hermetic unverse of referentiality, a classic postmodern film, no dirty rotten stinking boring reality to puncture the pleasure bubble. A machinelike clarity of digital sunshine stunning some dulled pleasure receptor in our dumb brains.
