Harrods is full of crap, and has not much crap you want to buy. It's less elegant than the low ceilinged Harvey Nicholls and the range of stuff is much crapper than the uber-dept.store Selfridges. At Harrods you pay £3.50 per item to leave your coats and bags in their ultra airport security cloakroom, however if you open an account you can avoid these charges (you don't pay to open it but if you are foolish enough to use it, the terrible usurous interest rate will destroy your life). I prefer Asda to Harrods, actually. The food may be slighly less luxurious, though Asda sell pancetta, but you are guaranteed always low prices and good value, and the open warehouse style retailing feels more contemporary than the 19th Century crampedness of the dept. store. Asda sell Tvs, clothes, and other good goods. Near some Asdas are TK Maxes where you will find similar items to those sold at Haemmerhoids Harrods, but hung on ugly racks, though at less than half the price. The staff in Harrods remind one of caged animals, ready to snap, but often too tired and depressed to be anything but nastily subservient. Though the people on the Krispy Kreme concession were very nice and gave away a free box of donuts ( which were not that nice).
