Review

David Burrows at the Chisenhale - like a child's bedroom gone wrong but it's slightly too clean, nearly psychedelic but not quite a chaotic riot of fun...Multi-coloured foam objects scattered around the glitter dusted floor and suspended as mobiles, flip flops and flowers and blobs...it's not a great show but how many great shows are there, it was fun but so is watching telly, if you are in the mood. Cocktails were good, matching the colours of the installation. The inevitable private view liggers in attendance, the next stop was the Palm Tree and it was good to hear how many people still talked about the legendary Bold and Beautiful show in Mile End Park...now that was SOME show. Left just before the lock in started, didn't notice I was cold til I got home and realised I left my cardigan in the pub. Maybe I did like the show, maybe I just wasn't looking properly. Trouble is, if you call a show New Life then your asking for it. Not much new stuff, but maybe that's the whole point. I felt optimistic though.
