Review

Have you thought his name is like his scribbly paintings? I like messy doodles more than the next woman, because they make me happy and think of freedom and that scrawly scribble is beautiful. One of the essential elements of paintings is mess. From the moment the paint is squeezed out of the tube there is an inexorable progession towards more disorder. As in life entropy is plate du jour.

Well this Twombly show is a bit low key but worth seeing, there are no big aesthetic hits, but just lots of quite good paintings. The open was full of trashy people who are actually quite high quality when compared to the the sort you find at a Cork Street opening these days. Populi should have more fun on champagne.
