Review

This is a pretty small gallery on Gertrude Street Melbourne. The show was by the melbourne artist DBK, who for this purpose, will call Deb. Debs show was fantastic, As the artist states: "The objects in this show have been cast from discarded automobile parts and recycled plastic packeging in erathane HR 50 foam. They have been made from this particular foam because of it's soft flexable quality. They have been made for touching" (COPYWRITE dbk) Touching, these pimplely soft things are for cuddleling, they are for comfor, if you like. They came in a range of colors pink and green, and they sit on the wall. or on the floor. As they were on both in the show. At the very back of the gallery there was a shower curtin. You look behind and there was this foam thing hanging precariously off a rope. It looked to me like the little foam it was commiting suicide, or maybe that was how it lived. What it looked like is hard to explain, it was soft and cuddly it looked like a cross between a fish and a belt with acne. The whole gallery is kind of creepy, you are surrounded by these monsters that need warmth, its kind of creepy. You cannot underestimate Deb and her bizarre creations. The show full of what the artist caals bip bumper and funper. thanks..
