The story is well written. My question is how widespread is this practice? I am writing from a disadvantage - I am not a Muslim and have no idea what part tradition plays in the upkeep of family honour, but I do know that my children are the most important things in my life and no way, as a mother, would I allow any man to touch them. I cannot see, then, how Saf's mother would allow her to be killed. Is she not killing a part of herself?
