At the urging of my friend I decided to use the £5 restaurant offer before it expired like a lobster being boiled alive from blue to red. The offer is famed for its destructive power amongst friends, more a curse than a boon, and always controversial when the bill arrives and people find out that £5 mean £6.75 when you have added in bread and service, not to mention the chaos caused if people decide to drink anything besides tap water, the cheap skaters always get out their worn £5 note and a sad story about their poverty and that they ate nothing and never see the extra charges, whilst the generous are forced to add £15 to the pile for their five pound meal. C'est la vie, c'est la moules.

Anyway Livebait was pretty good, the too fishy soup or leaf salad (ie some lettuce leaves) were stingy starters. But the mains of fish and chips/mussels and chips were generous portions well prepared. The batter of the fish was crisp and its flesh fresh. And the chips also on the good side of ok. The staff were not uppity about serving tap water and so earnt their 12.5% optional compulsory service charge.
