Why is taste so stupid? Late Picasso or middle Picasso is so much better than the sentimental pretty poster picasso of his rose and blue periods. The Picasso brand only exists because of Cubism et al, not because of his early nice long limbed longing acrobats which are ok as far as they go, which is not very much further, or in fact much less far than Lautrec, Manet, Degas, and others.
Yet rich fucks can't bring themselves to pay $100 billion dollars for a painting that doesn't look like something, so they end up buying the gauche stuff for high prices, and leaving the ugly masterpieces to the museums.
Go figure.
