Review

The film was surreal and subconscious, not suprising from the writer of Being John Malkovich and Adaption. I enjoyed it but questioned the unliklihood of the plot- perhaps I am caught up in a practical society which needs to equate stories back to the world they live in. More convincing perhaps were the characters who seemed 'real', not fabricated, plasticated or beautified for the camera. The central relationship with it's conflict of two people trying to live together rang true as we are all like that. You could tell the characters' attraction and differences so their cerebral journey to a resolution was compelling. As with all surreal films we wonder if the film is odd or wonderful, it could be both. And it makes you wonder if we would all be attracted to the same people, if we met them at different stages in our lives, and if the outcome would be the same. We may need to develop and mature before we can be with someone, as well as learning to be tolerant of them. It made me think!
