Review

Got home tired out from a marathon shift at work and was dying for a drink, discovered a bottle of Malibu in my fridge. This was a bottle that had been handed to me by a friend, who thinks he acquired it at a party - "somebody always palms off a gross drink at a party" - in this way the bottle keeps on being handed on til it finds a home. It's actually quite nice, I remember drinking lots with pineapple juice in the eighties. I had some with apricot nectar, and iced water, a taste of the tropics in grey rainy London. A design classic, the cermaic like whiteness of the bottle and its orange sunset, against which the silouhettes of palm trees sway in the warm breeze...aah, the tackiness of it all is summed up in the taste itself, intense sweetness of synthetic coconut. Malibu - plastic coconuts and maidens with hibiscus in their hair, dolphins playing in the sea.
