this series of shows at the ica are really good. more and more they are giving artists the wheel. here they do a first attempt, by giving fAMOUS ARTISTS the space to choose what they really like, we have the cahnce to look at a walt disney drawing and a schoolboy's sculpture from the eyes of the artists themselves. much better in most cases than seeing a piece by the selector. I enjoyed on the first series the choice of Orozco, andrč cadere. a sculptur I didn't know before, and also the faNTASTIC letter of the depressive clever alfred johanssen, in 1972, the year I was born, chosen by i don't know who, saying "I simply can't stand the snobbish atmosphere that surrounds our cultural actiity, and I feel that whatever I try to do to avoid being incorporated in this self righteous, exclusive club, it will wnd with me being caught, all the same in situations that I thoroughly despise... we bloody end up being fodder for the capitalist social machine's need for opinion and counter opinion... we help to keep the whole shebang running". I love artists who stop producing work. take this as my advice, you opinion people.
