Both are a bit boring and jingoistic. If you're not American you're probably supporting the Mahdi army, and hoping the mosque doesn't get it. If you're a yank or a rightish brit, you're hoping your guys win a few more golds than those dull chinese or frenchs. Hard to get excited about Iraq now they have a nominal provisonal puppet football team capable of beating portugal. The olympics lost their magic when all they seem to show is British people flailing, and it's not clear whether it's live or dead.
