Review

Not much has changed since I last wrote about this event. P... still has a poor short term memory and asks incessantly where he is. I suggested to the staff nurse that his location be written on his bracelet; she thought this was too much labelling. In the park I noticed it was written anyway. He remembers the past very well, and we talk about it. But then he forgets that he's told me so he tells me again. This can be repetitive but it also means that I can go over my favourite subjects and it acts as an exercise in expression for both of us. I learnt that P... has Korsakoff's syndrome, due to heavy drinking. He is now dry. Yesterday we bumped into his old drinking buddies, which was an unusual moment. They had plenty to catch up on. I felt it a shame that they don't pay him a visit but he defended them as aquaintances. P... beat me at Connect 4 but I was better at the puzzle than him. Today we bought another puzzle in Headway charity shop. Work in progress
