As far as I can see, September in Jersey is highly pleasant. Everything is green and shining, there is only a hint of autumn and it's actually more summery than bummery august. Cycling through the valleys is particularly joyous as you escape the madding crowd of cars and find comfort in strangers in the night, who are mostly friendly. Unfortunately there are no lamplights on the roads so you must be very careful, lest you crash into a moving vehicle. Then if you are not covered by insurance, things will be more prosaic than poetic. Most people don't mind the lack of lamps, either because they don't like that maddening Magritte picture, or they simply don't care. I go for the former, they go for the latter. Grab your bike and insurance and hooky on down!
