Review

Almost the best part of visiting Channel Four's premises as part of Open House London was being frisked by a cute security guard. This building was designed by Richard Rogers and is very cool. It looks like the kind of thing that could be a nightmare to clean though, as it's full of glass surfaces in difficult to reach places, but as everything was shining today the overall impression was strong. There were no guided tours, so after being frisked we were able to wander around the designated areas according to our own timescale. Mostly these areas were devoid of human mess, and they made me feel as if on holiday. The steel sections were painted the exact same russet red colour as San Francisco's golden bridge. I'm not sure why this connection was made but it was good to know, and did transform those sections in my imaginings. It's not a place for someone with vertigo, or a young child with a slippery clutch and a bag of marbles, but it's a place I'd like to be seen hanging out, but not actually doing anything.
