Review

I got this from a chinese (origin) peddler in a laundrette, a scene which contrasts nicely with the grandiose content of this pirate DVD. It's not out in UK cinemas yet, and you can get it on perfect quality DVD with all the extra bits. Am I supporting drugs running, slavery, prostitution? Perhaps. When I watch a film in the cinema, am I supporting American global war and hegemony? Which is the lesser of two evils? Which costs less and leaves me with a nice DVD to watch again and lend to my friends?

Anyway... the film is not bad, lots of, as they say, balletic fighting on strings, and some sort of silly Calvinoesque take on Truth shot in three colours chinese. It flows by happily enough, although the moral about sacrifice for the greater good of the kingdom seemed a bit convenient for our friends in power in Beijing. Overall I was more pleased with the trangression of buying a pirate then with the movie.
