My husband and I just recently returned from a months trip to the UK [Sept 2004]. We had a wonderful time, but the public loo's are disgusting!!! Most of them smell terrible, often very dirty, messy and unclean. Full of spiders and thick cobwebs [in fact we have never seen so many cobwebs in every place we went to or stayed in - are the english people breeding spiders??]. They were badly in need of some fresh paint and new floor tiles. In some area's the grounds just outside the public toilet entrance was strewn with rubbish and garbage. What a horrible site to see after so much wonderful viewing of the English countryside and Heritage. We were so shocked to see a Nation that are so health conscious, but the Brits take no pride in keeping their public toilets hygienically clean and cobweb-free - if there are cleaners we certainly did not see any!!
